From San Francisco we drove north to the Redwoods. Poor Soph wasn't feeling well, we ended up stopping at the visitor center then doing a 2 mile loop hike through the park. She was a trooper and just laid in her stroller. The rest of the day was spent driving to the Oregon coast where we spent the night near Lincoln City.
On the Oregon Coast
We arrived late in the evening about 10pm at our hotel we stayed at a nice resort called Salishan and the hotel restaurant had just closed. Luckily the front desk took pity on us and spoke to the kitchen. They were able to find us some soup and bread which we took back to our room to eat. Soph was promptly asleep and luckily woke up feeling much better the next morning. We even had sunshine. We went for a quick swim at the hotel in the morning and I got to go enjoy the spa for an hour while Chris and Sophie checked out the hotel shops, toy store and putting green. We then drove a few more miles into Tillamook and toured the air museum and the Tillamook cheese factory.
Soph liked watching the workers make cheese. At the end of the tour we got some cheese and ice cream. We then headed on to Portland to Matt & Monicas house.
The next day in Portland we headed down town to the pearl district. They have this great fountain/splash park. Although it wasn't really warm, Sophie loved playing in the water.
All warm and dry after playing in the water
We then headed over to the Japaneese Gardens
Our 2nd day in Portland we went to the OMSI museum. (Oregon Museum of Science) Finally a museum where Sophie could touch everything! She loved it. Many of the experiments were hands on and geared towards kids but Chris was having more fun with them then some of the kids were. They also had a great play place for smaller kids Sophies age which had a sand box, water and play dough station along with lots of other fun things. Sorry we forgot to take pictures there. We also got to see Matt's remodel project he was working on and spent the evenings with Matt and Monica and the boys at their home. From Portland we then flew home. It was a fun trip!
