Our 2nd day in Switzerland we drove into the city center of Lausanne and parked the car at the metro station parking lot out by the lake. From there we took the metro into the city and did a city tour from our guidebook.
This is just outside the metro, the roof was covered in greenery.
Our City tour took us through some of the historic areas of the city as well as modern areas and pedestrian areas filled with low and high end shops.
Midway through the tour it took us to the city Cathedral.
I loved the black & white interior
We decided to climb to the top of the bell tower for a better view of the city.
This picture was part way up.
At the top of the bell tower.
City view of Lausanne
Having a rest from climbing all those stairs
Back down the tower we continued our tour of the city which ended near this water fountain. Always a favorite with Sophie.
We then headed over to the Olympic Museum. This high jump is at the world record height jumped. Very high!
Having a rest at the park outside the museum
We then walked back down to the lake side and walked along the lake to our car.
From there we drove 30 minutes on to the town of Montreux where the famous Montreux Jazz festival was going on. It was very crowded but fun to experience. There were food and craft vendors lined up all along the water front. Then of course there were many venues of Jazz music being played but we didn't get tickets for any of the concerts going on. We didn't get any pictures in Montreux but ended up spending the evening there getting dinner and checking out the crowds and festival stalls.
